Growing in Unity day Five!

It is my last day for Growing in Unity week.  I love participating in this group each year. If you have ever wanted to be a Growing in Unity gal head over to My Unity Place and check it out. There are signups for next year posted.

Today I am ending my week as I began - with an embossed resist technique.  I used the Distressed Dots stamp for the background with Twilight and Cornflower Blue ink from Close to My Heart.  The ticket stamp is from “A Love Beyond Measure” and the birdy and sentiment are from “Fall for You”.

Thank you for joining me this week as I showcased some of my favorite Unity Stamps. Be sure to comment on each day to be entered to win your choice of any two itty-bitty stamps!  Happy Scrappin’!

Growing in Unity Day Four!

Welcome to day four of Growing in Unity week!  I am using another new stamp today - the “Absolutely Priceless” itty-bitty.  I LOVE this stamp! It is just so cute!  I stamped the ballon on three different scraps from my scrap basket and then once on white paper with my black stazon ink. I then cut out the small sections and adhered them to the base stamp. This card was so quick and easy!

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to comment and be entered to win your choice of two itty-bitty stamps!!

Merry Christmas! Growing in Unity Day 3

I hope you are having a very Merry Christmas!!  We are celebrating with our baby granddaughter who is 6 weeks old.  I know she won’t remember her first Christmas but I’m so excited she will be with us!

Anyhoo - here is my creation for today.

I gave my big basket of Unity Stamps to my daughter and so my choices for Christmas stamps were very limited.  I decided to capture my son and some of his mischievous faces for this layout.  The paper stamp from “A Love Beyond Measure” was perfect for a letter to Santa! I cut the kraft paper on my Cricut using the Cricut Craft Room to turn the rectangle into a trapezoid to skew the background a little bit.  Throw in a couple of Heidi Swapp brads that have been sitting in my stash forever plus one pin from last Christmas and a few sparkly letters...... you get a quick and easy Christmas layout!

I hope you are having a wonderful holiday! Be sure to leave a comment to be entered to win your choice of two - yes 2! - itty-bitty stamps from Unity Stamp Co. You can enter every day this week by commenting on each of the 5 blog posts.  Thanks for stopping by!

Growing in Unity Day Two!

Welcome back and Merry Christmas Eve! Today I am using an itty-bitty stamp that I just got in the mail last week! The Charming Cone Flowers is one of my new favorite stamps!  After stamping in Stazon Black I used Close to my Heart ink in Hollyhock, Sorbet, Topiary and Buttercup to color the image.  I dug into my scraps to find the paper for the background.  I also used another sentiment from “Just Wanted to Say” (seriously one of my favorite kits!!!) to finish it off.

Did you know that Unity hosts a challenge each month?  They do!!  Head over to the Unity Stamp Co. Challenge Blog and play along.  I used the card sketch for December as my inspiration on this card.

Thank you for stopping by today and be sure to leave a comment every day! One lucky commenter will win their choice of 2 itty-bitty stamps!  So fun!

Growing in Unity Day One!

I am so happy you are here! This week is my week to host “Growing in Unity” showcasing some of Unity Stamp Co.’s most amazing and fantabulous stamps! Seriously - I love these stamps!!

This week I am using images from two different sets - Just Wanted to Say and A Love Beyond Measure.  I was inspired by the amazing Maria Levine - one of Unity’s  ‘ippity chicks’.  In her video she shows how to do an embossed resist and I couldn’t resist (heehee) trying it! (click to see how she does it!)

I stamped the butterfly image from the “A Love Beyond Measure” kit with versamark ink and used B&J’s Art Stamps embossing powder in Mystic Fire on top. After heating it I used Inguilde Bolme chalk ink in Coltsfoot Stemens and Close to my Heart ink in Sorbet over top.  The sentiment is stamped in Stazon black from the “Just Wanted to Say” kit. The blue butterfly sticker is from Typo.

Thank you for stopping by today and be sure to leave a comment every day! One lucky commenter will win their choice of 2 itty-bitty stamps!  So fun!

Back to Scrappin’!

It has been a long hiatus.  Working full time and going to school full time has really cut down on any extra curricular activities. I’ve missed it! Hopefully as both are winding down for the Christmas break I can get much more time in my craft room!!

I decided to start my crafty season off with a layout for the challenge over at Unity Stamp Co. I adore their stamps and use them quite frequently on my layouts and cards.  Here is a sweet layout of my beautiful new granddaughter!

(Supplies: Pattern Paper from Carta Bella “Hello Chevron”; Citrus Twist Kits - button flair, sequins and twine; Amy Tangerine letters; Unity Stamp Co. “Love Beyond Measure” stamps; Staz On black ink, Close to My Heart Slate ink)

Fun tip:  I used my Staz On black ink to stamp the ruler image onto a piece of ribbon

Thanks for looking at my layout today. Stay tuned for more work in the weeks to come including a FULL week of UNITY STAMP CO. goodness coming up at the end of the month. You definitely don’t want to miss out on that one *wink wink*!!

HIMCR #107- Freestyle!

Today’s card (yet another birthday card!) was made with the new Ruby- RockIt! Carnival Queen papers.  These were really fun to use.  I dusted off my Cricut (literally - there is too much dust here!) and cut out the cute cupcake from the Rock Princess cartridge.  The sentiment tag was cut from Art Philosophy and the stamps on the sentiment are my new stamps from Unity Stamp Co. I topped it off with some sparkly stickles and a few metal gems from Joann’s.  I really love how it came out and know my niece will love it too :)

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to head over to Hiding in My Craft Room to see all the other yummy treats the DT has to share with you today!

HIMCR #106 - Super Scraps Saturday!

It is my favorite challenge of the month! Time to use up all the scraps you've been accumulating!

I am back with another birthday card (hey we have a large family!) This week I used a scrap I played around with when we challenged you to Try a New Technique. I made several of these little "cards" playing around with that faux linen look so I figured it was time to use one up.

Thanks for looking and head to Hiding in My Craft Room to link us up!

HIMCR #105 - Red and Green!

This week is a color challenge - red and green! You can do something for Christmas in July or any other project using red and green.  Make sure to go to Hiding in My Craft Room to link us up!

I chose to make a card for my niece's birthday that is coming up.  I really dug into my stash this time! I used Lil Davis (remember them?) rub on letters for the greeting. I think I've had them for about 6-8 years now!  Eek.  I really need to purge my supplies......

HIMCR #103 - Wedding!

After taking a short hiatus last week I am back with another Hiding in my Craft Room challenge!  This week the theme is wedding! It is that time of year with blushing brides abounding and its the perfect time to create a card, layout or other wedding themed item to enter into our challenge.  Head over to Hiding in My Craft Room to link us up and check out the other great design team projects!

My daughter got married in Dec. and I hadn't started her wedding book yet so this was the perfect impetus!  I still need to edit and print the photos I took but I did have the shots my brother took at the wedding itself that I got printed yesterday and then created this layout.  I still have a bunch of tulle leftover from the wedding so I pulled out a strip, cut the sides with my pinking shears and then sewed a line of thread down the center to gather it into a ruffle to put on the layout.  I really love how it came out and being able to keep a small momento is wonderful! Her colors were teal, purple and the purply pink of the tulle so you will be seeing a lot of those colors as I work my way through the pictures!

HIMCR #101 - Super Scraps Saturday!

Thanks for joining us last week for our 100th challenge celebration!  This week you get a "break" - it is super scraps saturday! So dig through those scraps you created last weekend and whip us up a project on any theme/style/whatever! you! want!

I created a card this week using scraps.  These are some of my favorite papers and I am going to be sad when they are completely gone - it's almost there!

HIMCR #100D - All that Shimmers!

All that Shimmers is NOT necessarily Gold!

Make it sparkle, make it shimmery!  Let's see those projects shine!

This is the last challenge of the day!  We hope everyone has had fun celebrating  the HIMCR 100th challenge with us!

The Sponsor for this challenge is Sherri from My Besties!  She has digi and rubber stamps!  Here's her link:  http://www.inspirationalbath.com/index.php

For this challenge giveaway she is donating 3 Rubber Stamps! Her Besties are really taking off!

For this challenge I used one of her free digital images - I Love you Pinkles.  This froggy is just so darling!  I used a sheet of glitter paper from Close to My Heart and my trusty Cricut Artiste cartridge to cut out the cute little crown to adorn her cute little froggy head! I also colored the image with Close to My Heart watercolor pencils.

I used my exacto knife to cut along the line of the eyes and the balloon so I could slip the crown underneath where it would fit better.  I also used a Close to My Heart stamp for the sentiment.

Make sure you head over to Hiding in My Craft Room and enter your creation to win the cool stamps Sherri is offering as a prize for this challenge!  Thanks again for joining me!!

HIMCR #100C - Use a Digital Image!

Our sponsor for this challenge is Naomi from Creative Bug Digitals.  She has some freebies so head over, pick one out and use it on your creation!  I chose this darling Girl with Flowers to create a card that I can later add a sentiment to for whatever occasion it may be.  I find it helpful to have a few "blank" cards on hand for that last minute card needing activity!

I used Close to My Heart inks and watercolor pencils to color my image. Don't forget to head to Hiding in My Craft Room and link us up!

HIMCR #100B - Die Cuts!

I know we've done this one recently but this time Laurie has a Cricut cartridge to giveaway :) Head over to Hiding in my Craft Room and link us up with your NEW creation using die cuts to be entered!

For this layout I used a sketch from Page Maps and pulled out some butterfly die cuts that I have had in my stash for at least 15 years.  Shhh!  Back before home die cut machines became affordable I bought these die cuts off ebay and stuck them in my stash.  Every so often I pull them out but the colors are pastel so they don't often go with what I am using.  Fortunately this time they worked!

HIMCR #100A - Choose a Previous One!

Challenge that is!  For this challenge all you need to do is pick a previous HIMCR challenge! Freestyle doesn't count!  It can be a challenge you wanted to do but didn't get a chance to, a challenge you started and didn't get finished or posted, or one that you already participated in and want to create another one!  It HAS to be something you make or finish that is NEW, no back linking please!

The sponsor for this challenge is Template Dreams!  A $5 gift certificate!

Here are some ideas:
Use a Kit
3X Design Paper
Anniversary
Pretty much any Holiday
Tags
Banners
Glitter

I chose to use a digital kit from Template Dreams - Sweet Bella. I used Adobe Photoshop Elements to create the layout and finally figured out how to do drop shadowing giving the layout a little dimension!

Don't forget to link us up over at Hiding in My Craft Room to be entered for the giveaway!

HIMCR #99 - Father's Day!

Its right around the corner! This was a simple and easy card to whip up.  I pulled out my blue and green washi tape and then tore off random pieces and centered them.  Cut the cute frame from a preview of a new Cricut cartridge that was available on the Cricut Craft Room and printed the sentiment to put behind it.  I added a couple of Martha Stewart pearl buttons and voila! Simple, easy but cute!  Thanks for coming by and be sure to head over to Hiding in My Craft Room to see all the other great creations by our design team! Next week will will be having our big 100th challenge celebration with lots of fun things planned!

HIMCR #98 - Try a New Technique!

This week we played around with the Faux Linen technique.  I have to admit it sounded a bit intimidating until I actually tried it and found that it was easier than I thought.  I really enjoyed it and made several small cards with the technique that I may post another day.

Go over to SplitcoastStampers for the technique tutorial to learn just how easy it is.  Laurie, from Hiding in my Craft Room, has used regular cardstock and found that it worked well so if you don't have glossy cardstock you can still give it a try.  Remember to head back to Hiding in My Craft Room to link us up with your Faux Linen creation!

I used a variety of stamps for this one - the music notes and corner flourish are from Unity Stamp Co. and the bird is from Stampin Up.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Vintage photo for the faux linen.  The sentiment is also from Stampin Up.

HIMCR #97 - Super Scraps Saturday!

Its one of my favorite challenges at Hiding in my Craft Room! I dug deep into my scraps for this one.  Do you remember Junkitz?  Yeah, I told you I dug deep!  I used a sketch from Scrapbook Challenges again this week.  I love their sketches!

I cut rectangles with my Cricut and then snipped the corners to create the chevron pattern.  I also used the Cricut to cut the mustache and title.  I love how easy this came together!

Be sure to head over to Hiding in My Craft Room to link us up with your creations!

HIMCR #96 - Name Your Colors!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!  Glad you joined us to celebrate.  Today you get to name your own colors.  That's right! You get to name your own color combo for this week's challenge.  Be sure to let us know what colors you picked in your post :)

I chose Bazzill colors - Blue Calypso, Quick Sand and Flamingo.  I had a piece of paper from Stampin' Up that had similiar colors with a dash of Chocolate Chip.  I used a sketch from Scrapbook Challenges for my inspiration because it inspired me to pull out my washi tape!

Make sure you head over to Hiding In My Craft Room and hook us up with your creations!

Another Birthday Card!

We have a lot of people in our family so birthday cards will be popping up frequently.  There are 4 more people this month but I won't always post what I make :)

This card was made with the Cricut Artiste cartridge from Close to My Heart.  The card is cut at 5 1/2 inches and the pieces for the merry-go-round image are cut at 3".  The stamp is also from CTMH.  I used a piece of tape to mask one half of the saying so that I could put it on two lines.  Thanks for looking!

A Birthday Card

I have a nephew with a birthday next week so I whipped up this card for him this morning.  Everything was cut from the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  I used some Mystic Fire embossing powder and a stamp from Close to My Heart to create the rings effect.  Thanks for looking!

HIMCR #95 - Mother's Day!

I have to admit that this is not my favorite holiday but I was grateful to have the opportunity to make a card for my mother-in-law in advance so maybe it will actually go out to her in time!  My own mother is residing in Heaven right now and I haven't figured out how to send a card to her yet!

I love my Cricut Craft Room.  Not only does it make it easier for me to link and access all my owned cartridges but they also provide free cutting files each month.  Right now there is an assortment of Mother's and Father's Day cards to choose from. I chose this file because it just seemed to fit my mother-in-law's personality.  I used a scrap from my bin to line the front and then used another white layer to line the whole inside to make it easier to write on.  The flowers came from some silk flowers I purchased many moons ago and the brad is Making Memories.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out Hiding in My Craft Room for the other amazing inspiration by my fellow teammates and to see what Laurie has for you!  Be sure to link us up with your creations!

HIMCR #94 - Banners!

Its your chance to showcase all the fun banner designs you've been making!  Banners have been a hot design in scrapbooking for a little while now.  Link us up over at Hiding in My Craft Room and show us whatcha got!

I used Pink Paislee Snow Days to complete this layout of a rare snow day here in the desert.  I cut snowflakes at 1" from the Cricut Artiste cartridge to make my banners.

HIMCR #93 - Super Scraps Saturday!

I think this is one of my most favorite weeks to design!  I love using up my scraps and seeing what I can make.  This week I kept it simple and did a layout for my version of project life.  I am almost done with February - lol.  Hopefully I can catch up this weekend!  Head over to the Hiding in My Craft Room blog and hook us up with your scrappy creation! You could win a gift certificate to ScrapbookPal.com!

HIMCR #92 - Yellow, Green and Pink!

What a fun spring challenge! I have a few birthdays in April to send cards for so I decided that would be the theme. I used my Cricut Artiste cartridge to cut the banner and stamp with a Close to my Heart stamp.  The card is based on a sketch for my local scrapbook group's monthly challenge.  The picture doesn't show it too well but the yellow flower layer is embossed with mystic fire embossing powder and white Stampin Up pigment ink.

Glad you joined me today and I hope you'll head over to Hiding in my Craft Room and link us up with your creations! Carrie (an independent Close to My Heart consultant) has generously donated a prize for this week's winner so don't forget to link us up!

10 Minute Craft Dash #15

Have you ever tried this? It is really fun! Head over to Pretty Pink Posh for the details and to play along.  Here is what I came up with using scraps of Bazzil cardstock and Basic Grey paper, a couple Heidi Swapp chipboard shapes, CTMH ink in Lagoon and a Stampin' Up sentiment.

This took me 8:07! Really fun to see what you can do in less than 10 mins.  I love speedy scrapping!

Tucson Rodeo

My son got the opportunity to ride on the float in the Tucson Rodeo parade. Its the longest non-motorized parade in the US. A few weeks ago the Cricut Craft Room had a free trial of the Southwest cartridge so I cut out a bunch of shapes to use when I finally got around to creating this layout.  thanks for looking!

HIMCR #90 - Anniversary!!

Join me over at Hiding in My Craft Room this week and link us up with your "Anniversary" project - any project and any anniversary!  While you are there be sure to wish Laurie a Happy Anniversary!

I used the Sweethearts cartridge on my Cricut and pulled all the paper from my scraps (the Cricut Craft Room is perfect for making cuts on scraps that may not be a full sheet!).  I used a new background stamp that I picked up at a stamp expo last weekend along with Sorbet ink from Close to My Heart.

Thanks for joining me today!

Hiding in my Craft Room #89 - Papers x3!

This week we would like to see your creations using three different papers! Our sponsor this week is Template Dreams who graciously provided us with digital kits from her store.

I chose the "Hey There" kit to work with and I love the papers! I recently acquired Photoshop Elements 8 and had fun playing around with it creating this layout.  Everything is from Template Dreams so be sure to head over and see what she has to offer.  There are some super fun kits to play with!

We are Eternal

I wanted to participate in Mandi's Get Messy Challenge over at Scrapbook Challenges.  This really is a challenge for me because I feel like I can never execute an attractive looking 'messy' layout. I pulled out an old Heidi Swapp mask that I have had forever and mixed up some mist with my mister, Close to my Heart Create a Shade paint to give it a pearlescent look and some Making Memories paint in Poppy.  I like how it came out!

Using a sketch from Page Maps I was able to bring together this layout.  I found the letters in a bin I hadn't looked in for awhile - they are Basic Grey Obscure and they matched perfectly! It was kismet!  The stickers are Cosmo Cricket and the shapes were all cut from my Cricut - the Artiste cartridge and the Simply Sweet cartridge. I added a little grey washi tape and some itty bitty bling from Close to My Heart and voila!

HIMCR #86 - Use a Kit!!

Welcome back to Hiding in My Craft Room's challenge Saturday!  This week we want you to use a kit.  You know we all get a kit at some point, maybe we are part of a monthly kit club or maybe we just see a cute one and snag it but never use it or use it up.  Well this is the week to dig it out and use it!

For my layout I pulled out the remnants of a Close to My Heart Workshop on the Go kit.  This one was an Avonlea kit.  So everything you see other than the pictures (haha) is from Close to My Heart.

Be sure to head over to Hiding in My Craft Room and link us up!!

HIMCR #85 - Embossing!

That's right! Its time to break out your embossing powder and get scrappin'! I used this cute little stamp from Unity Stamp Co. and a cobalt blue embossing powder for my background.  I love embossing on my backgrounds like this - just stamp randomly, apply powder and then heat it up!  It really makes such a cool raised effect.

We were given cute digi stamps this week from Sweet n Sassy Stamps to work with.  They have some adorable images that are so fun to work with! I used ink from Stampin' Up and Close to My Heart to color the image then added a phrase with another Unity Stamp Co. stamp.  I fussy cut the image then added it to my card - super quick and easy!

Thanks for joining us and don't forget to link us up with your embossing creation over at Hiding in my Craft Room!

Love Bug

Hey there! I wanted to share a little love card I made for my sweetie.  Right now the Create a Critter cartridge is available for use through the Cricut Craft Room - but I don't know for how much longer! So I figured I'd cut out a bunch of figures and save em for later.  But this little ladybug caught my eye and I figured it would make a great card to mail to my hubby at work so he gets something sweet for Valentine's Day while at work!

I decided to make it standard envelope size to give me a little more room to write inside and to make it easier to mail! I hope he likes it.  I dug into my scraps again and every paper came from the scrap bin again! Don't forget you can head over to Hiding in My Craft Room and link us up to your super scraps creation!

Happy Crafting!

Toot toot!

Just a little one - I won Scrapper of the week over at The Pink Elephant Challenges! I love their challenges.  Check it out - this week is a sketch challenge!

HIMCR #84 - Super Scraps Saturday

Yay! Its Super Scraps Saturday! This is one of my favorite challenges. I have a huge basket full of scraps and I love being able to use them up.  EVERY piece of paper this week came from my scrap basket - including the base! I had cut out a few small snowflakes on the grey base paper and so I had a mostly whole piece that I was able to use.  I positioned the strips to cover the cuts so you can't even tell from the front :) Even the ribbon was a leftover scrap from a roll that I had a long time ago!

Using my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge I cut the stars and the best part is the scrap I cut from had large cuts on both sides but using the Cricut Craft Room software I was able to position the stars where the paper was still intact and then cut.  I love it!

Thanks for joining me today and be sure to head over to Hiding in my Craft Room and link us up!  This week our sponsor is Scrapbookpal.com and they have a sweet prize for one lucky crafter!

Chalkboard Technique - Challenge at Scrapbook Challenges

As part of their fun blog challenge hop they challenged us to create a chalkboard effect.  I LOVE this technique! It looks so cool!  I used black paint and painted a rectangle on my cardstock.  Then I cut out a cute frame from the Art Philosphy cartridge on my Cricut to dress it up.  Using a white craft ink pad from Stampin' Up and some Close to My Heart and Unity Stamp Co. stamps I added my words.  I just love it!  Head over to Scrapbook Challenges to see more inspiration and play along!

Project Life - weeks 3 & 4

Since not a lot goes on in our lives these days besides the ordinary (which is quite nice!) I combined weeks 3 & 4 and plan on probably doing this for the rest of the weeks unless something big comes up.  I whipped this up while waiting for letters to cut on my Cricut for my son's science fair project.  I love how quick and easy it came together!

This is the final layout in the progressive layout challenge.  I always find these fun! I got to really dig into my stash and use up some letters that I have had oh at least a zillion years as well as some other bits and pieces that were floating around in various baskets.  I love using up my stuff!

TPE #45 - Lift It!

I love the challenges at The Pink Elephant and I tend to forget to upload them after I do them so this week I'm getting it done right away so I don't forget! This week the challenge was to lift it - use another layout as inspiration.  I went to the gallery at Scrapbook Challenges and found this amazing layout by Mette.  I loved the placement and the clusters of fun ephemera so I just had to lift it.

These pictures were taken during our family photo shoot in Nov. 2012.  My kids are such goofballs and I love it.  I've been wanting to scrap them for a little while now but didn't have the right inspiration - until today! I pulled out some stamps from Unity Stamp Co - the background, flourish, the 'you color my world' phrase and the little ruler in the right corner.  The Eiffel tower stamp came from a little store called Typo (have you been there yet? oh I love it!) The other things are bits and pieces I had laying around my scrap area.  I added a little washi tape too.  I cut the word 'agents' from my Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge (seriously you must get this - I use it constantly!). The smaller letters are Bazzill stickers.

Thanks for looking! Be sure to head over to the gallery at Scrapbook Challenges to check out Mette's amazing layout and leave her some love!
