Merry Christmas!

I've been teaching art at an elementary school part time this school year and while its enjoyable and "crafty" it isn't leaving me much personal crafty time. I did finally get the Christmas cards made to send to my FABULOUS Scentsy teammates - I promoted to Director in November and I wanted to send each gal on my team a little card with an ornament. Here is the card I whipped up:

Supplies: Close to My Heart - Holiday Wishes stamps, Petal ink and Pearl Create a Shade paint for glimmer; Basic Grey - Blitzen paper
You can't see the glimmer on the star as well in the picture but I used the Create a Shade in Pearl from Close to My Heart mixed with a little water in the spritzer bottle they sell. It adds the perfect amount of glimmer!

I got my order from Close to my Heart today and had to break it in right away! I hosted a party with Angela 2 weeks ago and got Joyful Jar plus 3 ink pads with my hostess credit. I love the stamps and the colors but I am not enjoying the tricky lids on the stamp pads - does anyone else have trouble with them? Two of the ones I have open and close smoothly but the other 3 do not and I end up with well inked hands trying to get them closed. Its annoying. But I do love the colors! Here is the card I made:

Wax Paper Resist w/ Laurie of Hiding in My Craft Room

I love playing along with Laurie's challenges and this was no exception. I had never tried this technique before! Of course I *am* the one kitchen without wax paper so I had to make a run to Target to get some first. The only glossy paper I had was photo paper which I think dried too fast to really turn out well and I don't have a stamping sponge so I used a makeup sponge but I still think it turned out okay!

Supplies: CTMH ink in Twilight, stickers from Pebbles Inc., chipboard and pattern paper from Scenic Route.

Play Date Cafe challenge

I love the challenges at The Play Date Cafe. They always pick fun colors! This time though we got to pick our own pop of color to use in a black and white card/layout. I used mostly scraps to create this so I don't remember the paper manufacturer. The flower is Prima with a black sticker center covered in crystal stickles (it looks green though in the pic). I took the quote off Pinterest and printed it out. I decided to make a card for my sweetie - one that fits in a regular envelope so I can send it to him at work. Everyone loves a little happy mail! Enjoy!

A Fall Creation

While going through a box I found a bag of old spoons from my grandmother. These particular spoons are from American Airlines. Believe it or not they not only used to serve real food on the airplane but you got to eat it with real utensils! My aunt was a flight attendant which is how I imagine my grandmother ended up with these.

I really wanted to make something neat with these and being intrigued with the utensil art I've seen on the net in various places this is what I came up with. I used glue dots to attach the spoons. I'm not sure that will hold up well - its hanging on the wall now so we'll see. My next approach will be to dig out the hot glue gun and try that if these glue dots fail me. This little wall hanging is my entry to the Paper Issues challenge to create something in honor of Thanksgiving.

The Play Date Cafe is hosting another color challenge and I really enjoyed playing with these colors and just may have figured out what I want to do for our Christmas cards this year! The stamps are from Close to my Heart. For ink I used Stampin' Up (So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Not Quite Navy, Perfectly Pomegranate, Red Riding Hood and Baja Breeze) and StazOn in Black. The cardstock is Bazzill and the pattern paper is Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses.

A Card

I took the challenge at The Play Date Cafe to use the colors orange, pink and yellow - which happens to be one of my favorite combos. This is a card I made for a friend that I just recently got back in touch with via Facebook. I stamped the butterfly in So Saffron ink then used Crystal Effects to add some shine and help the wings shape. I stamped the sentiment in Regal Rose, used chocolate chip to outline the butterfly and sentiment then mounted it on a piece of My Minds Eye paper and added a sheer orange bow. Easy peasy!

My husband is in the running for the prestigious President's Club at Leslie's Pool Supplies. If he receives this honor we get a trip to Maui on the company. Can't wait to go! I absolutely LOVE scrapping with sketches so I was uber-excited to find this way cool challenge blog - Sketchy Thursday's. I've done a couple of layouts with their sketches now (but only submitted one so far) and just had to jump on the chance to submit for their September guest designer spot. I really like how this layout came out!

So my scrappy mojo seems to be slowly oozing back and I thought I'd share some of my new favorite layouts. We moved my craft desk out into the family room and it seems a change of location may have unearthed that mojo that was hiding with all the dust bunnies!

This first layout is of my newest niece. She is such an itty-bitty cutie-patootie! I just love all my nieces. They are so much fun!

Next up is a layout of my daughter who graduated from high school a year early. I took her senior photos out at Madera Canyon. When the weather cools off I see more photo shoots in my future!

And last - Brigham was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints back in April and I used the sketch from the Sketchy Thursdays blog with a challenge over at ScrapGal to complete this layout.

I love scrapping vintage photos. In fact I think it might be my most favorite type of photo to scrap! Here is a recent layout I did using Graphic 45 papers and some K&Co embellishments. I photocopied the writing from the back of the photo of the ship to preserve my grandmother's comments and handwriting.

This first layout is one I created using some goodies I got from a friend in the mail - thanks Mrs. Chez!! I love the color combo of pumpkin orange and pink. Its not a typical combo which makes it all the more fun to play with!

At Scrapgal.com this month we are doing a month of Thankful Challenges! The first is to create a Gratitude Journal. I had this cute little 6x6 Bazzill mini that is perfect for the challenge. I'm about half way done creating the interior pages. My goal is to spend several times this month adding to this journal with the things I am most grateful for.

I'll be sure to come back and share the remaining pages as I finish them. Perhaps my first entry should be along the lines of being grateful for a hobby that allows me to create and refill my "bucket".

I'm a little bit.... Got Mojo challenge!

Here is my layout for the Got Mojo challenge - use the prompt "I'm a little bit ___________ and I'm a little bit __________" (channel your inner Donny and Marie!) and use polka dots. The papers are part of the super awesome prize pack I won from the Moxie Fab blog and are by Graphic 45. The cardstock is SEI, b/w polka dot tape is from Heidi Swapp and the sticker letters are from American Crafts, Making Memories and the Dollar Tree. The brads are Making Memories and the bling are some cellphone bling I picked up at Target on clearance. I have to say I love this layout! I scrapped with my gals last night and it was so much fun. Oh and these papers from Graphic 45 are da' bomb baby! I love them!!!!

So the last few days I've been a mad little scrapper and created many layouts and cards. There are 2 layouts I am holding back as potential DT applications but here is a look at my scrappy goodness from the last few days. I don't know if its just a temporary mojo surge or a need for major scrap therapy but whatever it is I'll take it!

My TP book - Trash to Treasure

Several of you requested directions on how to make this little mini book out of TP rolls. I must admit I can't take credit for it - my Stampin' Up demonstrator taught us how to make it at one of our classes. They are really fun to make :)

Supplies:
3 – TP rolls of same size
3 – Coordinating pattern paper cut to 4 ½ x 8 ¼ size
3 – Coordinating cardstock cut to 3 ½ x 2 ½
3 – Coordinating pattern paper strips cut to 1 ½ x 2 ½
Ink colors to match
Stamp sets of your choice
Coordinating colors of ribbon
2 – binder rings
Crop-a-dile or other eyelet punch
6 – coordinating large eyelets

Step One: Fold the small pattern paper strips in half and attach to the three pieces of cardstock to make small journaling cards.

Step Two: Flatten the three TP rolls and use a bone folder to flatten the edges. Take the 3 coordinating
pattern papers and fold slightly around the flattened tubes to make application easier. Apply adhesive to the backs of the 3 coordinating pattern papers and lining them up with the edges roll around to cover both sides and overlap the TP roll.

Step Three: Using your Crop-a-dile or eyelet setter punch two holes on one end of the tubes taking care to make sure they are a sufficient space from the edge to attach the eyelets and have them spaced evenly. (After doing one use it for a template for the others to make sure the holes line up properly). Attach your eyelets.

Step Four: Punch a single hole at random intervals along the edges of the small cards (on the paper
covered end). Tie a coordinating piece of ribbon in each hole. Make sure the cards fit inside the tubes.
Some trimming may be necessary based on the exact width of your TP tubes.

Step Five: Using your stamps and paper scraps decorate each page however you wish using coordinating inks and papers.

Step Six: Attach the pages together with the binder rings and attach coordinating ribbon tied around the rings to complete your mini-album!

I think my mojo may be finally flowing back! Its been awhile since I've created but I've been feeling crafty lately so I've been stamping, scrapping and sewing! I made a quick and easy baby blanket for a friend (but forgot to take a pic of it) as well as this card.

So without further ado here is my addition to this amazing blog hop!

Tip: The magnificent stamp actually looked like this:

To mask the decorative and keep just the word I used scotch tape over the pieces I didn't want inked, inked it up and then removed the tape quickly before stamping. That way I didn't need to worry about trimming out the word and had it perfectly aligned on the paper instead of possibly not having enough edge around it.

So I haven't been crafting much. We had a 2 week spring break so I took the time to sort, purge and reorganize. I got an armoire from my brother that works perfectly for my scrap area. I just need to get an Ott light to put inside the cabinet so I can see colors more clearly when working.

Monday Musings and some scrappy goodness!

I ran out of adhesive. I have an ATG gun which I LOVE LOVE LOVE (did I mention I love it? :D) and I ran out of adhesive.....again. I have several friends with the same gun and the last two times I ran out I just bought some from them. This time I told them (when the offered at our stampin night) that they need to stop supplying me! I need to order my own box(es). They don't last me very long compared to my friends so I really do need to just order my own. I found out that The Tape Depot sells tape that fits the ATG gun and is cheaper so I'm going to give it a try. I hope it works!

This layout is a tribute scraplift of a wonderful lady - Janice Neilson. Janice passed away last week suddenly and will be missed by many of the scrapping communities. The gals over at Coordinates Collections have arranged a fun challenge in her memory.
